Message from the Dean, June 2014

Carole Haber, Tulane University

Every Ending is Also a Beginning – Until We Meet Again

It is hard to believe that another year has passed. During commencement, we celebrated with the students as they marched across the stage, cheered on by family and friends. We felt the pride of their parents who watched their teenagers turn into wise young adults, ready to take the next steps in their lives. We shared with them the knowledge that not only had the students changed because of their time at Tulane, but the university and the city had become a better place because of their engagement. As the graduates of the School of Liberal Arts, they not only mastered their chosen disciplines, but they brought their knowledge into schools, courts, hospitals, and numerous organizations. Through the children they taught, the history of the city they helped to record, the murals that decorated the schools, the films that recorded the culture around them, and myriad other activities, they demonstrated their commitment to the city, the region, and the world.

As we bid goodbye to these new graduates, we know that although they may be leaving Tulane, the university will forever be a part of who they are and what they will be. As such, we hope that they will return often to Tulane and let us know of the paths their lives have taken.

Until next year, we wish you a wonderful summer.
