In conjunction with the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane, this 5-week study of Shakespeare's work provides students with a unique experience. Team taught by Dr. Scott Oldenburg (English) and Chaney Tullos (Theatre), the program will allow students to explore Shakespeare’s classics through both text analysis and performance. Students also have a behind-the-scenes look at the rehearsal process as they observe the Shakespeare Festival, a professional company, in its 25th season!

ENLS 4475/THEA 4475: Shakespeare: From Page to Performance
This team-taught course offers the unique opportunity to study Shakespeare from two distinct interpretive traditions: Professor Chaney Tullos (Theater) will lead students in textual analysis of Shakespeare’s work through the art of performance; students will have the opportunity to perform scenes, discuss original staging practices, and observe live rehearsals of the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. Professor Scott Oldenburg (English) will lead students in close reading of the plays from a historical and literary perspective; students will learn about the print history of the plays, the political and social contexts in which Shakespeare wrote, and questions of race, gender, and class as they relate to Shakespeare’s plays in his time and ours. M-TH 12:00-2:00.
