Biography
Natalie is a PhD student studying Classic Maya epigraphy, iconography, and archaeology under Dr Marc Zender within the department of anthropology at Tualne. She is an archaeological illustrator and has many years of experience with collections management and curation as well. She is currently focused on Late Classic period polychrome pottery with pseudoglyphic designs for her dissertation research and is expected to graduate in 2028. As a wife and mother of two daughters, she is also very interesting in identities supported by the archaeological record such as motherhood, childhood, and female political involvment amongst Maya polities. She has worked since 2019 in Northern Belize with the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaisance Project excavating at Cahal Pech and Xunantunich. Natalie also works in the Middle American Research Institute as a map Digitizer for MARI’s LiDar lab working on data from Mesoamerica.
