In the 2019 fall semester, Professor Mokhtar took his class to the Living Museum located in the lower 9th ward of the city. Students looked at the exhibit in this community-run, open-access (free) space. The exhibit raises various issues such as the history and development of the 9th ward area before and after Hurricane Katrina and 9th ward's location within tourist narratives.
