Cinema Studies and the Department of Communication are pleased to invite proposals requesting funds to support guest lectures, symposia, or courses in film studies. The Maurice L. Silverstein fund was created through the generous gift of Mrs. Rose Levy in memory of her child, Maurice L. Silverstein, a young pioneer in the filmmaking industry. The purpose of the fund is to advance the study and production of film.
Activities supported by the fund include, but are not limited to guest lectures, film exhibitions, critical or production workshops, and course programming. Silverstein funds can be used to pay for guest honoraria, travel, lodging; event-related costs such as a reception; or unusual costs specific to a symposium, course, or workshop (e.g. exhibition equipment).
1. Proposals should be sent to the chair of the committee, Professor Eric Herhuth at firstname.lastname@example.org as a single pdf file with the following information:
There is no hard deadline for proposals. For small events, proposals should be submitted one or more months in advance and for large events, proposals should be submitted 1-3 years in advance.
2. The amount requested should be commensurate with the campus or academic impact of the event.
3. Once approved of funding, please email Ava L’Herisse at email@example.com to arrange the transfer of funds to your unit.
