The Newcomb Department of Music
Presents
ELECTRIC LA-TEX 2026
A Festival of Computer Music and Audio-Centric Multimedia by Louisiana and Texas Composers. Featuring students from Tulane, Loyola, LSU, Texas, North Texas, and Rice University. All concerts are located in Tulane's Dixon Auditorium. All events are free and open to the public.
The Music and Technology Area at Tulane University's Newcomb Department of Music is excited to welcome the Electric LaTex electronic music festival to New Orleans for 2026! The festival takes place March 6–7, just in time for the city to shake off its Mardi Gras sequins and remember what year it is. The festival brings together student composers and sound artists from Tulane University, Louisiana State University, Loyola University, Rice University, the University of Texas, and the University of North Texas for a weekend of cutting-edge electronic and computer music and audio-centric multimedia works. Consider it a hair-of-the-dog… with a dash of algorithms.
Works were selected and curated by faculty representatives at each participating institution. Concert programs and sound check scheduling information are available via the links above (TBA).
All performances will take place in Dixon Auditorium on Tulane's uptown campus — where you might find a bead or two still rolling around.
Concert 1 – Friday, March 6, 8:00 pm
Concert 2 – Saturday, March 7, 11:00 am
Concert 3 – Saturday, March 7, 3:00 pm
Concert 4 – Saturday, March 7, 7:00 pm
After the final concert on Saturday evening, join us for a post-festival hangout at a venue TBD — a chance to connect, decompress, and celebrate a great weekend of music. King cake and revelry optional but encouraged.
