Non-tenure Track Faculty Professional Development Fund

The SLA Dean’s Office will provide professional development funds up to $750 per academic year to Professors of Practice, Visiting Professors, Instructors and Lecturers in support of relevant professional development activities. The funds are available to develop skills necessary to fulfill the duties as stipulated in faculty contracts. Examples of acceptable usage include but are not limited to attendance at conferences, professional membership in organizations, mentoring programs, teaching development resources, and laboratory/studio access. These funds cannot be shared among faculty and do not roll over between fiscal years. This policy does not preclude applicants from applying for additional funds through their home department or other university-wide opportunities.

Deadlines

Applications will be accepted three times per year:

• July 1 for activities in the fall semester (September through December)
• October 1 for activities in the spring semester (January through April)
• March 1 for activities in summer (May through August)

Applications will not be accepted or approved once the project or travel has begun or been completed.

Awards will be announced approximately two to three weeks after proposals are due.
