Biography

Costume Designer Brandon R McWilliams joins the School of Liberal Art’s Department of Theatre and Dance as Associate Professor of Costume Design. McWilliams most recently served the University of Missouri Kansas City’s Conservatory as the Patricia McIlrath Endowed Professor and Chair of the Division of Theatre. He received his MFA in Costume Design from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, his BFA in Theatre Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and has worked regionally for the past twenty years in costume design for live entertainment design. Brandon's work in theatrical design has been on display at the Prague Quadrennial and featured in publications such as Theatre Design & Technology, The Texas Monthly, and American Theatre. He has held faculty appointments at Salisbury University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Louisiana State University, Texas State University, and the University of Missouri Kansas City. He is the recipient of the Zelma H. Weisfeld USITT Costume Design Award, and two-time recipient of the Elizabeth Shrader Kimberly Award in Costume Design.
