Live from The Lab playreading series features student, faculty, and professional performers. The series of plays poses a specific question which is investigated through each play.
In 2026, how do immigration and colonisation affect identity? Is an immigrant a person seeking better opportunity, a better life for themselves and their family? Or is an immigrant some other kind of opportunist? What is the difference between a colonist and an immigrant? Is it just a ratio of numbers? Or something else? How does personal identity enter the equation as a factor?. A moderated discussion with the audience follows each reading. Come take a seat and be part of the conversation!
Live from the Lab productions are presented annually in the Lab Theatre (McWilliams 104) and are followed by a Moderated post-show Q&A with refreshments served.
Tickets are free and open to the public.
All performances begin at 7:30.
These grassroots productions are curated, cast, and marketed by undergraduate researchers Preesha Ohri (Freeman '26) and Sofia Seversson (SLA '27). This research lab is led by Associate Professor Amy Chaffee.
