Biography
Born in Texas, Ellen Sovkoplas has made Louisiana her home since 1997. She received her BA in Communication Arts from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and is a proud Tulane alumna, having earned her MFA in Stage Management and Lighting Design in 2000. She has over 25 years of experience in academic, non-profit, summer stock, touring, and professional theatre and dance as a stage manager, production manager, stagehand, lighting designer, consultant, mentor, and occasionally a performer. She believes in lifelong learning and in theatre and dance as vehicles for personal and cultural expression as well as social change and community activism.
