Biography

A Texas native, Ellen has made Louisiana her home since 1997. She holds a B.A. in Communication Arts and Biology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and an M.F.A. in Stage Management and Lighting Design from Tulane University. With over 30 years of experience in academic, touring, community, and professional theatre and dance, she has served as a stage manager, production manager, lighting designer, master electrician, technical director, consultant, mentor, and occasional performer.

Ellen is a proud member of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 39 and had the honor of helping to reopen the Saenger Theatre in 2013. She went on to serve as Assistant Production Manager and Technical Director for the Saenger and Mahalia Jackson Theatres for nearly a decade. Ellen believes in lifelong learning and in theatre and dance as vehicles for personal and cultural expression, as well as for social change and community activism.
