Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Dance Performance

The Theatre and Dance Department proudly offers an MFA in Interdisciplinary Dance. This is truly a one-of-a-kind degree for dance professionals looking to integrate an additional area of study and explore it through their strong dance skills. As a self-guided, collaborative study program, the Interdisciplinary Dance MFA works not just with the Theatre and Dance Department but with other schools at Tulane. The program is best suited for well-established dance professionals with great communication skills and a lot of flexibility (mental and physical)! This program is open to dancers of all disciplines and there is no limit or requirement for the additional field of study. This program is fully funded. For more information about the program, please look at the course catalog description.

Intake for the Interdisciplinary Dance MFA is every other year. Interested dancers can expect to submit an application with a portfolio of their work and proposal for their course of study, have an interview and possibly an audition. Application deadlines and interviews are in early spring. Accepted applicants can expect to matriculate in the fall of the year of their application. The program usually accepts a maximum of 5 students per intake.

Our most recent application deadline was January 2021 with accepted applicants beginning in the fall semester of 2021. Those interested in applying for our next application intake in Spring 2023 may visit https://applygrad.tulane.edu/apply/ to begin their application or email bhayley@tulane.edu with any questions.
