Jalon Young, Inaugural Diploma Ceremony Poet
For the first time, the School of Liberal Arts selected a degree candidate to read an original poem during its diploma ceremony. Young received a Bachelor of Arts with majors in English and Africana Studies.
A Bespoke Violin Performance by Michael Sze
Sze played a variation from an original composition, named in tribute to his academic concentration on the Assyrian Empire. Sze received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with majors in Jazz Studies and History.

Dean Brian Edwards presented film producer Robert Fyvolent with the annual honor following the alum’s recent Oscar and Grammy wins for his music documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
