Three School of Liberal Arts students from the Dean’s Student Advisory Board take us through their personal journeys, where they balance their interdisciplinary interests, classes and clubs to create a full Tulane SLA experience. Here is a day in the life of senior Zoraya Rodriguez-Mowzoun.
8:30 AM · Coffee before class
My friend Wesley and I went to Labyrinth for coffee and breakfast before my Social Statistics class. Making plans before class gives me something to look forward to and helps me start my day on a good note.
11 AM · Lunch and studying
After class, I walked to Rimon where I can use my wavebucks. But it is also a great study spot with inside and outside options.
12 PM · Community Table Talks
I facilitated a Community Table Talks session on the Red Zone, representing the Sexual Aggression Peer Hotline and Education (SAPHE). We discussed what the Red Zone means to them, consent and how we can help keep one another safer.
1:15 PM · Studying with friends
I went to the LBC to study with some friends even though they’re from different schools. We like to motivate one another. I love learning about what they’re studying and sharing what I am.
2:30 PM · Working with SAPHE
I went to the Tulane University Peer Health Educators and SAPHE Student Space in Campus Health to talk about our ongoing projects and goals. As President of SAPHE, I’ve loved making new friends and collaborating with other students to build resources that support survivors in our community.
3:30 PM · Afternoon class
I went to my Intro to Social Policy and Practice class, which I have with one of my roommates, Lyla. We are both Sociology majors and Social Work minors, which makes it really fun to take classes and study together.
