Author of Ancient Greek Love Magic and co-editor of Magika Hiera: Ancient Greek Magic and Religion, among other books, CHRISTOPHER A. FARAONE is a leading authority on magic and religion in the ancient Mediterranean world. His work covers every phase of ancient Greek civilization, from Homer and Hesiod to papyrus texts of late antiquity. He is Frank Curtis Springer and Gertrude Melcher Springer Professor in the Humanities in the Department of Classics at the University of Chicago.
