Emilia Oddo's Co-edited Bronze Age Book

Book cover Exploring a Terra Incognita on Crete

Co-edited by Emilia Oddo and Konstantinos Chalikias, this book brings together for the first time scholars working on the Bronze Age settlement patterns and material culture of the Southeast Crete, particularly the area of the modern city of Ierapetra. Despite the many archaeological projects and important finds from this region, scholarship has largely neglected it, leaving it to be a terra incognita. Yet, far from being the periphery of major Minoan centers, the area of Ierapetra was, in fact, a vibrant and thriving settlement landscape during the Bronze Age. Aiming to be the first building block in the development of an archaeological understanding of the region of the southern Ierapetra Isthmus, this book presents the status of the discipline and indicates future research trajectories.
