Erica Love

Erica Love is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator. She collaborates with artist João Enxuto on projects about creative economies and digital labor. They produce moving-image work, photographic series, sculptures, and live presentations that analyze or directly intervene in the structures that govern Contemporary Art. Love was a fellow at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, Sommerakademie Paul Klee in Bern, Switzerland, and the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). She was twice awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship and received an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. Love has performed and exhibited work at the Whitney Museum of Art, New Museum, Walker Art Center, Anthology Film Archives, Carriage Trade, German Pavilion at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art, Centre Pompidou, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, Museo Tamayo, and other venues worldwide. Her teaching appointments include New York University, City College of New York, The New Centre for Research and Practice, and Maumaus in Lisbon. Love is on the Board of Advisors for Weird Economies.

Love has consulted on and developed custom collections management systems for artists, studios, estates, and foundations for more than twenty years. She has developed systems for the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, the Gordon Parks Foundation, the Lawrence Weiner Estate, Rudolf Stingel Studio, Kiki Smith Studio, Annie Leibovitz Studio, among others. She has also written on archives, databases, digital assets, and algorithms for Verso, Sternberg Press, Art in America, WIRED, and X-TRA Contemporary Art Quarterly.
